Recording Policy:
By attending, you accept that your consultation will be locally recorded on the practice computer.
You can choose to not have it recorded, but your notes will be made during the consultation and immediately after, and are likely to be abbreviated as a result.
Recordings are stored on the Practice computer system, and are not sent outside the practice or to any cloud/third party.
Your recordings and transcript is available to you for a small additional fee.
Use of AI in Consultations:
Dr Mark uses local AI models to reduce typing time. Each consultation is recorded by default, it is converted to a transcript locally on Dr Mark's computer, and AI is used to extract information from the consultation including summaries, prescribed products, and agreement on treatment and testing for future consultations. In addition the transcript is used to construct a letter for communication with other healthcare practitioners.
You are not obligated to have your consultation recorded.
If you choose not to have your consultation recorded, your notes will be completed at the end of the consultation and will be billed in addition to the time of the face-to-face or Telehealth consultation.
Data Handling and Privacy:
Recordings generate summaries included in your medical records, a copy of which are always provided to you.
Recordings are solely for generating medical notes and will be deleted from our system at your discretion and request after the summary notes are completed.
No recordings leave the secure Mosman Integrative Medicine computer except at your request.
Privacy and security are prioritised at all times.
Patient Rights:
You can request no recording of your consultation (in person, or telehealth ).
All recorded information can be will be made available to you at your request and for a small fee .
Benefits and Limitations:
Benefit: Reduced doctor typing time during consultations, reducing billed time and cost
Limitation: AI transcription may have errors, requiring doctor review before records are finalised and provided.
WHAT THIS ALL MEANS (tl;dr)
At Mosman Integrative Medicine, we are utilising local models of AI to reduce the time spent typing and to allow for full medical records to be generated with summaries of consultation without the additional time taken typing during and after the consultation.
By attending Mosman Integrative Medicine, you accept that there will be a local recording of your consultation to the practice computer, and that recording will be securely stored in the medical record system. The recording and transcript are available to you after your consultation should you want them at a small additional fee. The recordings generate a summary which is included in your medical records, and those medical records are always provided to you.
The recordings are stored securely and are not kept for any other purpose. After your medical notes are generated, at your discretion, the recordings can be deleted from our server.
At no point do recordings leave the computer secured at Mosman Integrative Medicine. They do not go to the cloud. They do not go to any other third party.
Our focus is on facilitating the accurate recording of the medical consultation and to distill that to useful information using local artificial intelligence models.
Your privacy and security are foremost in our mind at all times.
You are absolutely entitled to ask that no recording be taken during your consultation, whether that is live and in person, or via phone, Zoom or other telehealth processes. All information recorded is available to you at your request.
The advantage to you of this system is a reduction in the time the doctor spends typing during the consultation, leaving him to focus on you through throughout the consultation. This is especially valuable in the context of long and complex consultations, so that all information in the consultation is considered and actioned.
Sometimes even the best transcription models get some words wrong, and this requires that the doctor review all AI transcript summaries before committing to the medical records and then passing them on to you.
Technical details, including model names used on the practice servers, are available on request. The models and technology are changing rapidly over time, but we will not compromise privacy or security under any circumstances.
ACCESS TO ADDITIONAL CLOUD “WORLD KNOWLEDGE”
At your request, we can pass your de-identified consultation transcript to a secure Cloud AI service (our preference is Gentu, the Google cloud service, which is currently being integrated with Apple AI to provide privacy and security in the Cloud).
This can allow for credible “world knowledge” to be incorporated in your medical notes to define additional and newer diagnostic and treatment options, including non-drug lifestyle and health options.
Let Dr Mark know if you want to access that AI Cloud based knowledge. If so, he will note the additional input of the AI and determine if the information is credible before inserting in your medical records.
Medicare & PBS
-
Mosman Integrative Medicine does not bulk-bill. You will still be able to submit a Medicare claim if the service fulfils Medicare requirements. The Medicare item number matching the service provided will be included on your invoice/receipt. When you submit this to Medicare, a Medicare rebate should be transferred to you.
Medicare rebates cover only a small fraction of the fees doctors charge at Mosman Integrative Medicine, and the “gap” is significant and should always be considered before booking appointments with our practitioners.
Please note, as a Vocationally Registered (VR) GP Dr Isobel Marr attracts higher Medicare rebates compared with Dr Donohoe consultations of the same duration.
All consultations, pathology, radiology or other work related to prevention, health promotion or longevity do not attract Medicare rebates.
Medicare & Telehealth
Your Medicare rebates at a glance:
In-Person Visits
Standard Medicare rebates apply
Regular face-to-face visits help maintain your Telehealth eligibility
Telehealth (Video/Phone)
Medicare rebates available if you've had an in-person consultation with us in the past 12 months
One face-to-face visit per year keeps your Telehealth rebates active
Need help understanding your rebates? Our reception team is happy to assist. Alternatively, please refer directly to Medicare.
-
Pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS) subsidy of prescribed medications is provided by Government for some prescribed products. They are generally not available for medications supplied by Compounding Pharmacists, or when some particular medications are prescribed for off-label use. Out-of-pocket costs for such medications can be significant and should be discussed with the prescribing practitioner.
Conflict of Interest Declaration
Mosman Integrative Medicine does not sell products prescribed by Dr Donohoe.
-
The primary business of Mosman Integrative Medicine is the provision of healthcare services which are billed at either an hourly rate, or as an agreed fee for a particular service.
Fees billed by doctors for Medicare-rebatable services do not attract GST, nor do medications prescribed by doctors in the course of treatment. Fees and sales billed by other healthcare practitioners may attract GST.
The medical practitioners in MIM do not sell medications they prescribe, apart from the TCM herbal treatments provided by Dr Isobel Marr. Other practitioners may offer products or services for sale, and will inform you of those costs at the time of the consultation.
patient questionnaire
Enrolling with us.
When you contact us for your first consultation, whether by phone or contact form, you will be asked to complete a New Patient Questionnaire (PQ).
We ask you to fill it in using Acrobat, Preview or any PDF reader that allows for text entry into the fields on the form. The “submit” button on the last page only reliably works with Acrobat, but you can save the document and email it to our Reception (instructions on the form).
If all this fails, handwrite your responses, scan the completed document and email it to Reception (pm@mimpractice.com).
Once we receive your completed PQ, you are in the queue. Dr Donohoe will review the PQ to decide on the consultation time required.
We will then contact you to book the consultation. At that time, we will ask you to forward any relevant test results, specialist letters, x-ray reports by email (scanned) or by mail (we will scan and return the original documents to you on your consultation date)
FAQs
Can I have my appointment online?
Yes, we offer consultations via video and phone.
We currently offer the following video platforms; FaceTime, Skype and Zoom. Please note that eligibility for a Medicare rebate is determined by your in-person attendance at the practice once in a 12 month period. If you live interstate or in a rural area you may not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
What to expect on your first consultation?
Once your appointment has been scheduled and confirmed you are welcome to email any supporting documentation that will help our doctors prepare for your first consultation. This might include recent pathology results, reviews or reports. Please note Dr Mark charges a small fee for pre-reading of notes so we suggest sending only the information you think is relevant to your current health concern.
We understand that your health journey is unique and your first visit will be longer than your standard medical consultation. Many of our patients have waited a considerable time before they see Dr Mark and it can be both physically and emotionally taxing to discuss your personal health journey with a new practitioner. We highly recommend that on the day of your first consultation that you be gentle with yourself and don’t schedule too many other activities. You will receive comprehensive notes from Dr Mark for you to refer to over the coming days. Take your time to digest and reflect on any new ideas, information and recommendations. And, please feel free to contact our friendly reception staff if you have any questions.
How long will my first appointment with Dr Mark be?
Depending on the complexity of your health condition we estimate your first consultation will be around 2 hours in total. This includes 90 minutes for your consultation and 30 minutes for pre-reading and paperwork at the conclusion of your consultation. Occasionally consultations run longer or shorter. We can give you a better idea once we have received your completed new patient questionnaire.
Is there parking near the practice?
There is plenty of unrestricted parking in the adjoining parking bays. There are 3 one hour parking spaces directly in front of our practice. Please note there is wheelchair access on the opposite side to the front entrance to the practice.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Prior to your appointment, please review our Appointment Confirmation & Cancellation Policies. Appointments that are not confirmed within the confirmation period shall be canceled and fees applied. Please feel free to call our Reception staff should you have any queries or concerns.
