Mosman Integrative Medicine
4 Best Avenue, Mosman

Dr Mark Donohoe, one of Australia's best known Nutritional, Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine doctors, and his partner, Fiona Donohoe-Bales, of Bloom Yoga and Wellbeing, are proud to announce new directions for Mosman Integrative Medicine for 2019 and beyond.

We aim to realise the original dream of Mosman Integrative Medicine - a resource to provide the community access to the best of evidence-based modalities for understanding and managing complex illness and transforming health, providing each person the tools and techniques to not only recover from chronic illness, but to go further and build vigorous and resilient health.

We are moving from Integrative Medicine to Integrative Healthcare, taking what we have learned at MIM over the past three years to curate and provide the best information, education, products and modalities to improve our clients’ and patients’ health and recovery from serious and complex illness and diseases.

We have new practitioners to expand the options for patients to recover and learn the skills and treatments needed for better health. Dr Donohoe will still be doing the work he has been known for over the past thirty plus years with ME/CFS, chemical and sensory sensitivities and complex multi system disorders, but MIM will provide you access to new skills from practitioners experienced and expert in a wide range of modalities including nutrition, health coaching, naturopathy, mindfulness and meditation, yoga and Qi Gong to name a few.

We are just 1 km from the heart of Mosman at 4 Best Avenue, Mosman (in the Georges Heights precinct).

Other Practice Information

The following information is simply background information of a general nature.

Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates are generally applicable for Australians for all medical consultations related to illness and disease diagnosis and treatment. Medicare does not cover prevention generally, and that is one of Medicare's greatest failings! It is an excellent disease treatment system, but a poor disease prevention system.

Mosman Integrative Medicine does not bulk-bill under any circumstances. All payments must be made at the conclusion of the consultation.

Long consultations
Complex and chronic illnesses are extremely difficult to manage within the constraints of normal General Practice in Australia, with its high reward for consultations under 15 minutes addressing one medical item per consultation.

Shoe-horning patients into brief consultations always resulted in compromises. To practice Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine, with the focus solely on the best care of our patients, we have had to decouple consultations and fees from the Medicare rebate.

Phone, FaceTime and Skype consultations
Many of our patients are very sick and come from outside the Sydney area, often from interstate or abroad. While much of the work and planning is done at the first consultation, follow-up consultations are usually required when all test results are back.

Telephone or video consultations are available for such follow-up of initial response to treatment and to identify abnormalities on the pathology testing which require additional or alternative treatment, further testing or referral.

The duration of these consultations can vary from a few minutes to more than an hour and are billed in increments of 10 minutes.

Selling treatments
There are a number of therapeutics that we prescribe at MIM that are not readily available, or are available only at considerable cost or with considerable difficulty. When this results in patients failing to take their prescribed treatment, we try to source these products for our patients at the lowest possible cost and for their convenience.

Consulting Fees (March 2019)

Patient Questionnaire:
When you contact us for your first consultation, whether by phone or contact form, you will be asked to complete this Patient Questionnaire (PQ).

We ask you to fill it in using Acrobat, Preview or any PDF reader that allows for text entry into the fields on the form. Hit the “submit” button on the last page, and it will be securely emailed to our Reception.
If all this fails, handwrite your responses, scan the completed document and email it to Reception (

Once we receive your completed PQ, you are in the queue. Dr Donohoe will review the PQ to decide on the consultation time required, and whether other MIM health practitioners should be involved in your care.

We will then contact you to book the consultation. At that time, we will ask you to forward any relevant test results, specialist letters, x-ray reports by email (scanned) or by mail (we will scan and return the original documents to you on your consultation date)

Conflict of Interest Declaration
Whenever Dr Donohoe prescribes or refers, and that product or service is provided at or by Mosman Integrative Medicine, this creates a potential conflict of interest.
Products sold by MIM do involve purchase and resale at a profit, and we do this only for products difficult to source and for patient convenience. There will never be pressure to buy these at MIM.
Referrals to other health practitioners within Mosman Integrative Medicine are typically billed by that practitioner, rather than by MIM. However, practitioners pay rental for rooms they use at MIM.

Mr Digby

Mr Digby, our much-loved Maltese Cavalier poodle, has been an important part of Dr Donohoe's patient care at MIM, and has delighted, calmed and supported many a patient over his eight years of "work" with us.

Patients who do not want any contact with dogs, or who may be allergic to animals should let us know so that we can make sure he is not in the vicinity of the Practice on the day of your appointment.

Mr Digby made a name for himself chasing ducks on YouTube a while back. Over 13 million people have viewed the video on YouTube and Facebook, and it can be watched by clicking here.
